Terms of Service

Last updated: October 9, 2025

Welcome! Here Are The Ground Rules

We know nobody likes reading terms of service (we don't either!), so we've tried to make this as clear and straightforward as possible. Think of these terms as the basic rules for using ToolsFree—mostly common sense stuff like "don't break the law" and "don't try to hack us."

By using ToolsFree, you're agreeing to these terms. If something doesn't make sense or you disagree with anything here, please reach out to usbefore continuing to use the site.

What ToolsFree Is (And Isn't)

ToolsFree is a free online platform offering 100+ tools for text editing, PDF manipulation, image processing, video editing, calculations, conversions, and more. Here's what you need to know:

What You CAN Do:

  • • Use all our tools for personal projects (homework, personal documents, photos, etc.)
  • • Use our tools for commercial purposes (business projects, client work, etc.)
  • • Share links to our tools with friends, colleagues, or on social media
  • • Use tools as much as you want—there's no usage limit for normal use
  • • Access everything without creating an account

What You CAN'T Do:

  • • Copy, clone, or steal our website code or design
  • • Use bots or automated scripts to spam our servers
  • • Try to hack, break, or disrupt our services
  • • Upload malware, viruses, or illegal content (even though everything processes locally)
  • • Resell access to our tools or pretend you built them
  • • Violate any laws while using our tools

Your Content Belongs to You

Let's make this crystal clear: Any files, text, images, videos, or documents you process using our tools are 100% yours. We don't own them, we don't store them, and we don't even see them. Everything processes in your browser using JavaScript—your data never touches our servers.

That said, you're responsible for what you upload and create. Don't use our tools to process illegal content, copyrighted material you don't have rights to, or anything that would violate someone else's rights. If you do, that's on you, not us.

About Ads (How We Pay The Bills)

Running ToolsFree costs real money—servers, domains, development time, electricity, coffee (lots of coffee). To keep all 100+ tools free for everyone, we display ads from Google AdSense and potentially other advertising networks.

Here's what this means:

  • You'll see display ads on various pages—they help keep our lights on
  • We try to keep ads non-intrusive and relevant (no pop-ups, no auto-play videos with sound)
  • Ad networks (like Google) may track you for personalized ads—you can opt out in your ad settings
  • We don't control which specific ads appear—that's handled by the ad networks
  • If you see inappropriate ads, please let us know so we can report them

Using Ad Blockers: We get it—ads can be annoying. While we'd prefer you whitelist us (it really helps!), we won't stop you from using ad blockers. Just know that ads are what make this free service possible. No ads = no revenue = no ToolsFree.

Third-Party Services & Links

Some of our tools interact with third-party services. For example, our YouTube downloader pulls data from YouTube, and our social media tools connect to various platforms. When you use these tools:

  • You must comply with those platforms' terms of service
  • We're not responsible for changes to their APIs or services
  • Those platforms may collect data about your usage
  • If they ban you or take action, that's between you and them

Important: Downloading copyrighted content without permission may violate copyright laws. Use these tools responsibly and only for content you have rights to download.

Disclaimers & Limitations (The Legal Stuff)

We've built ToolsFree with care, but we need to be upfront about limitations:

"As-Is" Service

Our tools are provided "as is" without warranties. We don't guarantee they'll always work perfectly, be bug-free, or meet your specific needs. We do our best, but computers are complicated and things can break.

Accuracy & Results

While we strive for accuracy (especially with tools like calculators and converters), we can't guarantee 100% perfect results every time. For critical decisions (medical, financial, legal), always double-check with professionals.

Limited Liability

We're not liable for damages resulting from using (or not being able to use) our tools. This includes data loss, business interruption, or any other damages. You use our tools at your own risk. Always keep backups of important files!

Intellectual Property (Our Stuff vs. Your Stuff)

Your Content: As mentioned earlier, any content you create or process is yours. We claim zero rights to it.

Our Website: The ToolsFree website—including its design, code, logos, branding, and original content—is protected by copyright and belongs to us. You can't copy, scrape, clone, or redistribute our website without permission. If you want to integrate our tools or build something similar, let's talk!

Age Requirements

ToolsFree is for everyone, but if you're under 13 years old, you need a parent or guardian's permission to use our site. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13 (see our Privacy Policy). Parents, if you have concerns, please contact us.

Service Availability & Maintenance

We aim for 99.9% uptime, but sometimes things break or we need to do maintenance. We might take the site down briefly for updates, fixes, or improvements. We'll try to give notice when possible, but sometimes emergencies happen. No refunds will be given for downtime since, well, everything's free.

Termination & Account Suspension

We reserve the right to block or ban users who:

  • Violate these terms
  • Abuse our services (spamming, hacking attempts, excessive bot usage)
  • Use tools for illegal purposes
  • Harm other users or our infrastructure

Since we don't require accounts, "banning" usually means IP blocking. If you get blocked by mistake, contact us and we'll review it.

Changes to These Terms

We might update these terms occasionally (new features, legal requirements, typo fixes, etc.). When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Major changes will be announced with a notice on the site. Continuing to use ToolsFree after changes means you accept the new terms.

Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

If we have a disagreement, let's try to work it out like adults—reach out and we'll do our best to resolve it. If we can't settle it informally, any legal disputes will be governed by applicable laws. We're not fans of lawsuits (they're expensive and stressful), so let's communicate and find solutions together.
